The issue is not that stuff in there ia not usable, but that so much page count is wasted on adapting the technocracy “for a modern audience” under a guise of “The Technocracy, Today”. They for, example, handle different scenarios of neohandic corruption or how many (if any) horizon realms survived. In itself good, but I do not want or need an extensive rewrite of Technocracy basics with a view on current social issues so some people can play them without getting an aneurism due to “playing the baddies”. Most people, I assume, like the Technocracy for it’s “grey” morality and the tension between individual and societal good. Between liberty and tyranny or herosim and insubordination and being government spooks.
The issue with the rules stuff is, that there was so few that was actually usable in game in comparison to pages spent on mental gymnastics due to the last election cycles (at least it smelled like that).
I am central european, so what do I care about this? Just a bad purchase money/delivered goods wise.
Sorry if I am bitching to much, but I play my tabletop games with my friends to not engage too much in divisive issues.
