I apologise for not interacting in the club much. It's very late where I am when the club starts, and I'm usually far too shy and busy to continue after waking.

>Rainbow Dash is challenged by both nature and her own limits, over and over again
I did constantly think about what Dash's limits were and how she would measure up to the other Wonderbolts. She lost consciousness three times (two knock outs, one exhaustion) before the fourth put her into a coma. Burned, slammed, cut, twisted, sprained. It bordered on unconvincing.
>do people even remember that RD used to be shipped with Soaring simply everywhere?
Yep, it's the OTP. With how Soarin was initially acting in this, I had to go back to check the tags and publish date.

>But that is also the message of the fic, isn't it?
Absolutely, it's done well enough. But however unintentional it was, it's a trolley problem dilemma. I empathetically loathe a scenario where Dash would have to essentially explain to a now-quadriplegic foal "I did my best to sacrifice you". It's a haunting, real life prospect, and with ponies, I think there should be room for ideals and magical third options. Not to say I disagree with its message or would change the fic, it's just the sad part of what is a good outcome and I worry for the fictional character.

>My only issue with the fic, really, is that it’s just a RD story: the author seems better than this.
Kek.
>I just couldn't accept that Dash would have that kind of internal monologue.
I agree, there were a few lines that really didn't seem like her. I justified it as a difference between the mediums (cartoon vs written), and that she interprets her inner voice differently (though a poor excuse). Anything's possible with a TBI.
