I believe that is exactly the right idea - stretching (recovering lost ROM) is a training in its own right and should be held as such - consistency, adequate rest periods and gradual progression
>if you wouldnt squat your BW on your first day in slippers and jorts you shouldnt expect quick results from stretching either
