that said, you absolutely can look at how other artists draw, what measurements they mark down, etc, and experiment with them. the ones that fit you, copy. the ones that feel awkward even after many attempts, drop.

you are already simplifying the head well. no details, just the form and an indication of its orientation. on the other hand (lel) your hands show that you are overwhelmed by their complexity. using this as an example that is representative of many other parts of your figures: ...
why not simplify the hands too? think of action figures that have a rigid hand with all fingers in one plastic shape... think of the claw like "hands" of lego figures... think of "cartoonish" cold weather gloves...

why not simplify the hands into pic-related-like shapes?

try it! you will be forced to make a decision where exactly that shape bends to show the hands "expression". you will be forced to melt together the fingers in most poses, and then to decide to "break the rule" when a certain hand pose requires you to split the shape into 2x2 fingers rather than all 4 as one blob...

these kinds of simplifications will allow you to have more control and be less overwhelmed

and sooner or later you will find that the torso can be simplified, at which point understanding its rotation will be as easy as drawing a label on a whine bottle :^)
