Dwarves are relatively less popular when it comes to romances and party inclusion, but people mistake that as meaning something it doesn't. Characters like Oghren, Khelgar, Wrex, and Gimli are still important to fantasy storytelling tropes, even if nobody wants to fuck them. It's two different things.
