if heaves were counted like and-1s, jokic would go from 41.7% and 18th in the league in 3p% to 44.4% and 3rd. that's not nothing
the reality is that players rely on these stats in contract negotiations, especially roleplayers. if you can change the game to make it more entertaining and the only downside is an extremely minor stat change (there were 12 total made heaves last season and you can retroactively calculate old 3p%), it's worth it
