In mid-august a horde heard the generators and came through the main stairwell. Escaped through a secondary tunnel and fled out of town to a rural lake. Bikers holed up on the edge of town complicated things, attacked the car.

Only grabbed the essentials so it's subsistence living and trying to scrape together fuel and supplies from already-looted homes. Other scavengers around the lake are picking it apart quickly, so this might not be viable long term. At least a couple of friendly scavengers provide good company... for the first time since the Alexander brothers went down in March Ridge. That was a few weeks ago.

The horde didn't penetrate very far down into the bunker, so I just need a lot of fuel for driving around in something hardy and dragging them away. The gas station up the road was hopelessly swarmed so I bypassed it for the cabins. May have no choice but to slowly wear it down, but even then there's the generator bottleneck. And it's all a race against time to get back in there before winter comes, or otherwise cut our losses and focus on stockpiling here. Way too much shit to do:
>leather-padding everybody else's clothing
>converting spare room into a workshop
>butchering/hunting station
>drying racks for herbs and leather
>perimeter fence
>dock for better fishing/bridge to islands
>armoring the buick in the driveway
>making new weapons/sharpening them
>can't tell the flunkies to go do any of it for me like MP, only loot already stripped houses or chop logs and other simple tasks
It's better than nothing. One day I will have cold beers and space crew in the bunker once more. Just gotta trust the plan
