Also if anyone here wants a laugh, I'm like 5'4" with a 28 or 29 inch inseam I think. They only made this bike for 1983 after the CB900 from 1982. Before riding motorcycles, my only experience has been riding bicycles and once, an electric bike. On this motorcycle, my dad used to take me out on it every once in a while when I was little, and that's it. 90s born kid btw. It's like 973cc or so and 89hp.

I took the MSF course on May 10th/11th and added my endorsement a couple of days afterward. My dad couldn't get his leg over the seat anymore after having both knees replaced, so I found him a 1983 VT500 Shadow to ride while I took this one over. Yes I have tipped it over a couple of times, but it's been all amateur stopping/standstill stuff (don't turn the bars without a plan for where the CoG goes). Picking up a 600lb bike gets old incredibly fast, but it's fantastic to run on the roads out where I am. I got it running again when it had like 20,600 miles on it, and it now reads 22,897. Definitely enjoying the High/Low range selector on 5 gears. I put it in low in town or when I'm hitting twisty or mountainous roads, and high range for stretching its legs on the highways. The transition from cars wasn't too bad since I only drive manuals, 3 different Toyotas. Wet clutches are an interesting concept in terms of low end speed control.

You're telling me, while it would be more comfortable I don't even want to put a windshield on it again. I love it to death as-is. If I had to go that route, I don't want to wire anything on. It's a totally analogue gauge with a little light bulb that just pops out the back. Very simple.

Definitely reading that, I've been trying to work the cover off with a flathead screwdriver and I hate myself. Afraid of getting stabbed too.
