I will give Dragonball credit for making Goku work jobs and an education which gave him strength. Also, Master Roshi, Tao, Tien, and old Piccolo beat the hero even with Saiyan hax. Goku didn't become successful until the Namek Arc, and even then Raditz beat the waku waku out of him
