I mean when you consider that VNs are usually way longer and anime has to condense everything into 4-8h, they're most likely cutting out a lot of stuff and aren't that faithful. F/SN VN is like 100h long. I haven't seen the anime of F/SN, but I did watch Stens;Gate and later on read the VN, and it was worth reading the VN imo.
