Also Sprach Zarathustra was a rough draft of the first two routes. Acta Est Fabula is basically the polished full version. Amantes Amentes was the all-ages rerelease, but more importantly cropped all the art to widescreen and added the side stories and a bonus ending to the Rea route. The side stories just reiterate on things already conveyed in the main story but with 10x the words to kill the pacing whereas the new ending was just dry, out of place KKK fanservice, so they're all skippable.

The DEEN series is decent, mainly as a digestible introduction that starts at the actual beginning rather than skipping to the middle like UBW, but since that ship has sailed, you can just read the VN. The animation is awful and there are a couple parts taken from UBW to tie off loose ends, but the music, direction, character designs, etc. are better and more faithful than the ufotable adaptations.

F/SN VN is like 100h long. I haven't seen the anime of F/SN, but I did watch Stens;Gate and later on read the VN, and it was worth reading the VN imo.

That scene where Sakura is waiting outside and picks up Shirou from Saber? She waits inside to ambush them and yells at Saber. When Berserker is chasing Saber all over the forest and jobs five times? Berserker has the advantage but is forced to stay in place to protect Illya which gives Avenger the opportunity to eat him. That scene where Sakura teases Rin in the kitchen by calling her sister? Rin turns ice cold and threatens to kill Sakura. When after NLBW, Shirou lands the finishing blow on Berserker and he looks up to see Illya? Berserker sees Illya and stops an inch before killing Shirou, giving Shirou the opportunity to finish him off. This is just a sample. While UBW is mostly accurate to the letter, it places emphasis in the wrong places. Now imagine if you combine those emphatic problems with half of the events playing out exactly opposite to how they originally did. Even if you ignore the director's Sakurafaggotry and cuts for time constraints, the HF movies are unrecognizable.
