It's the default model they offer on their official interface, and from what I've seen, it's the one they try to push for regular users.
You can tell they worked on it to make it a bit less rigid and "LLMy" than other models, because models with a small "personality" score better with the general public.
That's why it's more fun for creative writing, but also why some versions of it can be a bit cringe or overly flattering on their site.

Yeah. It's the model they push for complex tasks: coding, research, and so on.
An 80% drop in price is massive, and I think it's a reaction to Gemini becoming more mainstream and Claude Code making waves.

Still, either they tried to bamboozle everyone and the model was never that big or expensive to begin with, or they nerfed it somehow.

They also "released" o3-pro today, which is more expensive.

It's been a long time since I tried it, but I remember it was surprisingly alright (for SFW, I didn't try NSFW back then).
It could output some pretty good lines and was fairly direct, without the fluff some models tend to add.
