Christianity and Judaism were competing factions that sprung up at the same time after the Septuagint was written. Christianity and Judaism in its inception were pedo cults, its why there was an angry mob demanding Jesus be Crucified. Modern Day Christianity is just a Controlled Opposition religion.

what you are missing is that both of the countries folklore is inherently evil, just a different type. The european stuff is meant/setup to be a warning for the things you should steer clear of, and how to identify something wrong. the land warps it's horrors based on the general views of the people inhabiting it.
