>In modern times, many people heavily see the Military, authority, or even the Police as very, very unfavorable.
You do realize that the 00s was full of anti-war rhetoric, right? Like the biggest anti-war movement since the 60s/70s. Today doesn't even compare to the hate the military was getting back then.
And GI Joe was THRIVING while everyone was hating on Bush's Team America. Nevermind lines like 21st Century, Unimax, etc etc were also enjoying big sales at Walmarts and Targets. See pic in being able to get super high quality military vehicles for cheap to NOTHING today.
Again, the anti-military shit was going all the way into Obama's presidency, where his platform was about getting our military out of other country's business.
>Hasbro chickened out and cancelled the livestream
That's on Hasbro. Again, they're mismanaging GI Joe for the twitter karens, instead of caring about what children want to see (Call of Duty, Overwatch, Rainbow Six, etc). Hasbro is making GI Joe irrelevant, while military media continues being loved with each new generation and new military franchises become popular.

The GI Joe films were shit. They tried to make GI Joe an international thing and the designs were boring as fuck. The first movie line didn't really have any good villain figures either, which is insane to think about.

to be fair, the streaming wars (netflix, disney+, hbo go, hulu, etc) is killing media and the cartoon industry is dying because of that. So there's not a lot of opportunities to create new shows like in the 10s and before.
