Dude, it's a Japanese series with a cartoony mascot. Knowing how they think, it's more likely that Mario will end up with Pauline since she's a bombshell whereas Peach looks like cartoon in comparison. It's rare for two cartoony characters to end up with each other in a series that's not serious. Sega tried to do the same thing with Sonic and Madonna/Elise whereas Amy wasn't taken seriously as a love interest by the Japanese devs.
