It's because Masters significantly shrunk down all MC characters and made them really short for some reason. It's the most glaring with Serena and Calem because they're probably the tallest MCs in the series. Pic related, look how much shorter he is compared to his 2D art relative to head size.
Also, the Paldea characters are all slighly too tall, no idea why. Relative to each other their sizes are correct, but like >>57911981 shows, even the MCs are taller than a lot of characters. And they're supposed to be only 150cm.
