Having no conception of what these games were other than they were released almost as much as the Madden games, a friend showed me the fifth one, but it seemed like they were cleaned up to that point, though even so, I thought it was weirdly stiff and kinda sucked compared to beat em ups like The Warriors, Shaolin Monks and Urban Reign, but I can't lie and say I didn't enjoy when we'd barely just make it through some levels with like no health and defeating the final guy after using that special attack move. Some of the cutscenes/cinematics were fun and those brother characters gave me some feels.
