They've always been a faction with a lower level of popularity. I love them because they're up there with WoC and greenskins in terms of customization potential.
That being said, and maybe I'm not alone in thinking this, but I've always felt their roster is super limited, in terms of unit variety and visuals. GW never went as hard on the monogod stuff as they should have, and they never really explored the other myriad of shapes beastmen (or their monsters) can take.
