If you went into software just because you had no other motivation in life and just wanted money+followed the hype i think you deserve to be unemployed. They only want the really good ones to lower the salary of the average ones and the only reason they constantly talk about "labour shortages" is to increase the reserve labour foce, they (your bosses) WANT you to be unemployed, so they can keep lowering the salaries of their jobs.
