If you went into software just because you had no other motivation in life and just wanted money+followed the hype i think you deserve to be unemployed. They only want the really good ones to lower the salary of the average ones and the only reason they constantly talk about "labour shortages" is to increase the reserve labour foce, they (your bosses) WANT you to be unemployed, so they can keep lowering the salaries of their jobs. The unimportant and easy to get jobs are offshored to the 3rd world. You? just follow your dreams, and if you have no desires due to no soul because of jewish blood in your family then just end it.

There are thousands of other apps on app stores, many of which have their own development and marketing teams. The days of one guy making an app that goes viral is long past. Did you come out of 2011?

This is an absolutely insane take that absolves the jeets and tech ceos of their robbery. A crazy number of seniors just fell into the role as nerds and they did magical things. They started somewhere too. The big difference is the world was different and they actually trained them from the bottom up. Now you do their labor for them like the boot licker you are and pretend like it's just because you're passionate.

It's gonna start with web dev, but the whole sector is getting fucked, it's only a matter of when.
If you are a graphics designer, then maybe find something in the gaming industry that's quite hard to consider automating, art direction, story boarding, quest design.
I'd also recommend at least understanding broad concepts of game engine design and game development.
Anything that requires a personal touch is very likely to endure.

No. They get a huge "valuation" and sell the company to a conglomerate who use it as a financial instrument.

Now that the west is essentially post-scarcity (food is so cheap crops have to be destroyed and farmers subsidized to keep the prices adequate so the system doesnt collapse, renewable energy is cheap and effective, low-end "luxury" goods like cigarettes and cellphones are trivially cheap) there is nothing left for "startups" to do under the current system and the only reason the system hasnt shifted to reflect that is that the oligarchs in charge would rather pogrom the western population and import third worlders to keep it running than let number go slightly down even though they already own a megayacht and have enough wealth to last 10 generations

Up until recently the US was predominately inhabited by people with Western European ancestry, i.e. Brits and Germans, and later Irish and Italians. And it's those settlers that built America into the country it is today. America speaks a West European language and has much of its culture descended from West European influences. Saying that America has nothing to do with West Europe is profound historical illiteracy.

The only countries that come close to the U.S. in contributions are Europeans/Canadians who share the same DNA as us.
China does publish more (emphasis on quantity), but less per capita. And considering that their CS grads perform worse than us, it's likely shittier research.

I could make early Facebook.
I could make early Google.
I could make early Amazon (if I had distribution connections).
I could make early Netflix (if I had rights to the IPs).
These weren't complex websites, they got to where they are through business skills not through tech. America only knows how to monetize better than anyone else because it's a thoroughly judaized society.

Only 25-33%? I was assured that America absolutely dominated the world in tech, "We invented the whole fuckin thing". That's pretty pathetic desu.

>Because nobody's using the fucking GM-NAA I/O
We were discussing tech not successful business moves, in fact one of my main arguments has been that America is shit at tech and are successful because they monetize well due to their jewish nature, yet you still come forward with the products that were monetized well. You didn't even bother standing by them saying
>well they technologically advanced the industry in this area
Which they absolutely did. You literally only cared that they were big products.

There's actually 2/4 important names that are American with microprocessors, so you could say 50%
>discussing tech not successful business moves
How are these not related? Nobody cares if you can re-invent facebook when your UI/UX looks like shit, you can't scale it, and you don't know how to distribute your software.
>You only care that they were big products
Yes. Improvement counts as development.

Amazon was founded in 1994.
AWS early stages were founded in 2002, I'm not sure if I could create that one but it was still a pretty simple idea. Amazon was >$5 billion at this point.
AWS as we know it, cloud focused, was founded in 2006. Amazon was worth >$17 billion at this point.
I dunno, I think "billion" is a pretty big number.

I don't know what your point is. "They had billions of dollars, so they didn't revolutionize cloud computing?"
The "invention" argument is so unbelievably gay because there can be 20 pioneers of an invention and you can hand-pick the swarthiest one to say "see? We invented it, saar!" But even then, if you look at the founders of cloud computing, i don't know if you'll find any non-American companies. Salesforce is another American company that did cloud computing a little earlier than AWS.

It's a shit industry right now but it depends on where you live, non-America you might have a chance, you qualify for graduate jobs and there's no gap to scare people off.
The fact you're about to graduate's a good thing, the fact you have no internships (or lined up) is very bad and it's the kind of industry that wants you young.

To give you some warning: There are practically no entry level positions and each one gets hundreds of applications each.

I figured as much. I might stay in sales since I need money above all else but I'm willing to give it an honest effort if there is a chance. I'll try to get an internship but what else is there I could do? Do people even give a shit about portfolios at this point? Yup. The industry is filled with jeets and bugmen who don't have a life outside of their careers which makes them perfect slaves for CEOs and middle managers who also don't want people to have a life outside their careers.

I think this has something to do with the sheer amount of currycels, chinkcels, trannies, cucks, and fags in tech. No one belonging to those groups will ever be able to start a family so the concept of not spending all your waking hours working because you want to have sex or spend time with your family is either completely foreign to them, or just makes them seethe. I've also noticed that Indians tend to have absolutely no hobbies so they don't have any value for free time.

Where are you guys applying to that has a work culture like this? In my 5+ years of being in the industry full-time, I can count on one hand how many people I've ran into at work who coded for fun during their free time like I do. And if you're only counting coding that isn't work-related, I can count them on one finger. But I've also never worked at software companies, so maybe that's why I haven't been finding them.

We’ve all lived the nightmare. A new developer shows up at work, and you try to be welcoming, but he can’t seem to get up to speed; the questions he asks reveal basic ignorance; and his work, when it finally emerges, is so kludgey that it ultimately must be rewritten from scratch by more competent people. And yet his interviewers—and/or the HR department, if your company has been infested by that bureaucratic parasite—swear that they only hire above-average/A-level/top-1% people.

It’s a big problem, especially now. There’s a boom on. I get harassing emails from recruiters every day. Everyone’s desperate to hire developers…but developers are not fungible. A great coder can easily be 50 times more productive than a mediocre one, while bad ones ultimately have negative productivity. Hiring one is a terrible mistake for any organization; for a startup, it can be a catastrophic company-killer. So how can it happen so often?

Like many of the hangovers that haunt modern software engineering, this is ultimately mostly Microsoft’s fault. Back when they were the evil empire where everyone secretly wanted to work, they were famous for their “brain-teaser” interview questions – Why are manhole covers round? – and, of course, they asked new university graduates about computer science theory; “Write me a binary search.”

Let me offer a humble proposal: don’t interview anyone who hasn’t accomplished anything. Ever. Certificates and degrees are not accomplishments; I mean real-world projects with real-world users. There is no excuse for software developers who don’t have a site, app, or service they can point to and say, “I did this, all by myself!” in a world where Google App Engine and Amazon Web Services have free service tiers, and it costs all of $25 to register as an Android developer and publish an app on the Android Market.

Yeah people don't really consider that experience. They're going to see no education and no professional experience and bin it. The only way they don't is if you have a successful website/app or know some people who get you to the interview.

timmy thinks anything but on-the-job work (and not internships either) counts as experience. Just point and laugh.

Listen to me this is not a joke and if you think it is you're going to look back on this post moments before shooting yourself five years from now after never holding a job outside of college.

You're FUCKED and genuinely your only hope is to devote yourself to learning PLCs immediately and becoming an I&C engineer. It's not too late to save yourself!

You could also look into MEP but that sounds like reading a lot of electrical code books and devoting the rest of your life to touching autodesk products and I assume you don't want to do that

CEs earn about the same as burger dlippers here and doctors lose independance over their own health (same as military). Covid made that an even more important deal breaker.
