Novel Arachnids are much more of a human-like society that uses tools and whatnot. They're still a bug-like hivemind but they have guns, spaceships and generally use technology to do things.
In a way 40k Tyranids are closer to the novel than to the movie, although they use biotechnology to do things, which is why a gun in a Tyranid Warrior's hands is actually another Tyranid.
I wouldn't mind there being a faction that was like that, but it's clearly not current Terminids. Maybe Squid uplifted Terminid faction or someshit, would also go well with the four arms thing.
