use a gamepad layout or your jank, most of what you need to learn isn't related to muscle memory and there's a lot of info to download into your head to be able to fly plane gud.
ground school and rtfm before touching controls is the "right" way to do it but if you need to fiddle to keep your interest there's nothing wrong with it
