I work in paint and ~7.8mil is not high. Very consistent with oem paint thickness of that time. When every manufacturer switched to new bs low voc shit post 2018 or so things got a lot thinner. Like half the thickness. Thankfully most body shop repairs are very detectable here in north america because you would see a thickness of 14 or more mil. Not sure about japan but I would imagine it to be the same. They are still using humans in their body shops as well....for now
