Always hated his art, I think he stuck to his references too tightly which gave them that stiff posed feeling, but dug the wholesome Americana vibe he was going for.
And he does have at least a few cool paintings/illustrations, even if you want to be critical of the guy.
But if I had been around at that time, and hiring an illustrator, there'd be dozens of people I'd choose before Norman Rockwell.
On another note, are there any illustrators these days that are well known in a way that is comparable to Normal Rockwell? I feel like the last 'rock star' illustrator was/is Jamie Hewlett, and he's likely famous moreso for being attached to an actual rock star (Damon Albarn) rather than his illustrations itself.
