I’m confused. I mean…

First off, why did the Israelis evacuate their settlers from Gaza in the first place in 2005, if they knew something like Hamas would take over and it would turn into a big thorn in their side? Was it actually for peace, or some 4d chess move I don’t know about?

And secondly, why don’t they just cleanse it top to bottom with the full might of their army and get it over with? It’s such a tiny piece of territory, and they don’t seem to care about international condemnation
