>you should try to understand why "Sonic doesn't regret" is even a trait in the first place and where it comes from.
Well, you mentioned some quotes, but you didn't actually say why Sonic chooses to not regret. The very notion of "not regretting" is pretty arrogant in itself, since it assumes the person is making the ideal decision in every situation, which is simply not realistic in any way.
If one is venturing life in any way, they are sure to regret someday. The paths we pick can lead to dead ends that force us to pick different paths. That character development naturally entails regret.
Not even Sonic is omniscient enough to know which path holds which future, so he's bound to run into a dead end one day. It's at that moment when W*ndnic falters as a character, because the only two things that can happen are 1. He continuously tries to break through and dies/stays stagnant, and 2. The writer/story/circumstances/universe reveal the dead end to just be an obstacle, and so Sonic never needs to change paths. Sonic just hitting his head into a wall until he either dies or something outside his control happens to save him is cringe. I think the act of changing is more admirable and inspirational than either of those two choices, as picking a different path takes a whole different kind of courage. Regretting and admitting fault takes a whole other level of humility. And then when he's done going back to the starting line, he can go back to moving forward, knowing there's not only one path he can take.
Although, I'm not sure whether to interpret W*ndnic as someone who chooses only one path or simply runs in the void with no direction in mind, but they're both bad.
