I’ve been working as a night shift nurse for about 1.5 years now and it fuckin sucks so much. I have been able to get stronger and lose fat in that period of time by being very disciplined with my schedule but it absolutely sucks for my social life and life in general. I work 3 12 hr shifts and have 4 days off per week but I stay nocturnal on my days off as well to keep my circadian rhythm and be healthy. A lot of my coworkers switch their schedules on their days off and that literally destroys your body. If you stay consistent with your schedule you will be ok and still make gains. What sucks is I wake up around 5 pm on my days off and usually I like to workout first thing but if my friends or family want to hangout I’m only available in the evening so my workout gets delayed to later on at night so that means no drinking which could be viewed as good or bad.
