Chapter 3 proved very handily that DR isn't about escapism. Susie and Ralsei know from the jump that playing Tenna's games won't accomplish anything except letting them cool down from their blowup, and Susie of all characters is consistently the one who most firmly stands up to Tenna's distractions. Chapter 4 also had basically zero "church bad /distraction" stuff whatsoever, it and prayer are shown as positive community and personal stuff.
