Oh definitely most of the gold was plundered. It’s a shame. Especially with how liberal Japan was with their own gold. Hideyoshi Toyatoma or whatever his name was literally gave it away to the French.

Oh. And I did actually take a photo of one of the gates of the main city. I’m sure a lot of it crumbled and is lost. But you can get an idea of the original height maybe. Another thing. In the city outskirts there’s 1 gate sitting randomly behind a school. The story goes there used to be 200 gates like that to get into the kingdom.
