Emotion is a catalyst for magic, enough of it can turn a ripple into a wave, and Virtuoso learned long ago that the crowd is just as important to the performance as the players. The more attention and emotion is invested by others into her music - whether fellow players or an audience - the stronger and more chaotic it becomes.

One or two people has virtually no effect, ten or more begins to manifest as a certain state of flow as her magic manifests more freely. At its peak, her magic becomes riotous and out-of-control to the clamour of thousands of fans - though it reaches an absurd level of raw power, the best she can do is vaguely anchor and guide its direction.

Few artists within The City are truly free in their expressions - the corporations censor troublesome thoughts, demonize problematic narratives and pilfer and package any hint of marketable entertainment to be sold in a sanitized subscription. In an environment where independent work is punished with destitution and rebellion is treated with a legal sledgehammer, it is no surprise that the underground art scene is a dangerous and often fruitless path. Every year a hundred artists, musicians and entertainers are cast into the prisons and gutters while one lucky soul is elevated to the comforts of a corporate-sponsored gilded cage - nearly every group has folded to the pressure one way or another, save for Calamity.
