Yeah he makes thinly veiled ripoffs of Tolkienesque and Norse, but so do literally tens of thousands of other fantasy stories
I unreservedly like plenty of the character and plot beats, and Saphira and Eragon's dynamic IS the best I know of for that kind of thing

That said, the MCs being so perfect together kinda becomes a hindrance when Paolini seemed to be absolutely incapable of considering the logical conclusion. I'll always be disgruntled
