I cannot emphasize enoguh just how true this post is. Please, if you're reading this, for fucks sake, go back to basics and make strong connections from which you can build upon.

The entire Mike phenomena and the whole Friend Inside Me shtick was pseudo mocked exactly because it was nonsense over reaching its boundaries. People saw episode 2 and tried to scope out the entirety of the next 5 chapter with elaborate mentions of a character that existed for about 2 lines or was barely mentioned at all. This is absurd, it's insane, and its also utterly ridiculous if you think about it for more than a few seconds.

You don't need a corkboard, you need basic theories that are solid enough you can build upon them. Start small, make reasonable assumptions then see where it leads you, the moment you try and crack the game open like an egg, the more you'll realize you don't have enough to make an omelet (or its stuffing) but you can at least fry em sunny side up enough to have something real.
