They've been working hard to get their private server functioning, they've had lobby matches for a long time and they're about to start their second casual matchmaking test on Saturday and Sunday. I played the first matchmaking test and it was almost completely smooth with average 1-3 minute queues thanks to enough people playing, I strongly recommend giving it a look. Everyone who still cares about the game is good enough that nobody will outright drag your team down, and while there are a few elder-god-tier pubstomp players they can't just stack together so you're likely to have as many of them on your team as on the other team to balance things out
