I forgot to say, but Sanae, as THE head priestess of the shrine, is also expected to participate in festivals where the participants demonstrate their military prowess, so she also needs to be good with bows, be able to shoot bows from horseback, be skilled at falconry, etc...
I struggle to see this dork being some sort of archery master or skilled warrior, since I see her as too nerdy, but Kanako IS a war god, while also being a god of wind and rain, so I guess her only representative should also be good at the things she's the god of.
