I’ve had one decent broody hen over the last 6 years and she hatched 6 out of 12 for me. We live in a small city (28,000 or so) and I’m desperate to move and get more space and distance between neighbors. I’m scaling back this year im hopes of being able to clean up and get moved. Im planning on halving my flock (the chicks are just the keep us in eggs this winter) and quartering my garden so I can get moved. I’ve been building my soils up for a decade and I have dozens of large containers so I plan to scrape and transport like two trucks of dirt to the new homestead. That’s my biggest regret is I have the best soil there is and I want to take it all with me.
Getting containers and dirt into them so I can just load them and go when the time comes.
