In a lot of cases your shit just starts werking in the midgame, and that causes me to immediately abstain from improving the builds further, because I'm already doing fine and if I just keep hoarding the skill points, I can splurge on a lot of good shit all at once as soon as I hit some actual difficulty and skip out on any resting shenanigans until endgame.
Sometimes the characters have like 20 unspent skill points, it's a bit silly but I like it this way.
