I do financial budgeting for people who are late on their credit card and the one thing I notice that a majority of people who are in a bad financial situation say that exactly thing. Except it is more so along the lines of instead of something they like its usually on uber eats or someother take out service. Like these poeple would just come to me and ask me where their money went and I just see 200 dollars going to uber a week and 10 dollars on lottery ticket every day.
