David? Who gave Solid Snake that name? Being a clone he had no parents to legally name him. So who did? What is the in-universe Lore meta why his non-classified government paperwork lists him as David? Yes obviously everyone has a name, even Solid Snake but who was the fatcat who ultimately decided to name him Davey in 1973 when he got cloned? Sounds like a pretty big responsibility for you, for me, for anybody! I sometimes wonder if Snake merely pretends his name is David after MGS1 bc he loves Otacon so much that he feels some sense of a social debt of honor to his nerd bro thus decides to troll him by allowing him to believe their names merge to form a 2001 Space Odyssey joke. In the implausible hypothetical situation that I had a time machine, the only thing I'd truly wish to change is Metal Gear Solid 2's release date! from November 13th 2001 to September 10th 2001.
