Ohh yeah that's true, I for one am not totally thrilled that the family is getting increasingly into life-or-death situations due to Lincoln's recent obsession with spies, or that sci-fi/supernatural elements are becoming more and more common, takes away a little from the SoL comfiness, but I suggest a balanced approach, where, at the very least, key canon developments in the character themselves are acknowledged, even if diminished for the sake of the plot

Canon: Lincoln is obsessed with spies
Possible revision: Lincoln likes spies but he's not just about that and also likes... (Insert fanfic plot).

Nothing that severely limits creativity but also making it feel like the character is real you know?
