Christian antisemites never made any sense to me. Even beyond just the “Jesus was Jewish” thing. It just comes off as blatant cognitive dissonance.
Often times they’ll quote some edgy verses from the Talmud which imply that goyim are subhuman cattle who deserve to be exploited. And sure, that’s bad and all. But you can find similar sentiments in the Old Testament. The entire book of Joshua is just the Israelites committing one giant ethnic cleansing campaign. God literally gives them the green light to just indiscriminately slaughter whole cities, including women and children.
But Christian antisemites (and theologically conservative Christians in general) have to contort themselves and employ their own brand of Talmudry by saying it was “based” because the Canaanites worshipped demons and or something. This is a pretty weak cope, all it amounts to is “but our God is the correct one. We’re special.” How is this any different from the ethno/religious narcissism they see in Jews?
When some Rabbi says that Arabs are subhuman cattle that should be expelled before Israel annexes the West Bank, that’s evil. But when God tells Jews to slaughter an entire city because it’s full of degenerate goyim, that’s based for some reason? How does that make sense?
Where do these people think Jews get all these bizarre theological ideas? They didn’t just appear out of nowhere. The Old Testament plays a part in it, because it directly fuels their ethnonarcissism.
This is why Christianity makes more sense when you view it as a branch of Judaism (albeit more racially/ethnically inclusive and with evangelization). Because it basically says “Actually, we’re the real Israel”. In which case I guess you have to view Ancient Israel as your spiritual predecessor, and see the conquest of Canaan not as a Jewish war, but a Christian one. But then how can you say Jews are evil if you basically believe the same dehumanizing things that they do?
