It depends on how you're tracing it. Just going over the lines won't do anything for you. I recommend trying to identify the largest shapes in the drawing with tracing, and then recreating them. This would be better to do on real photos of models, because other people's art pieces have mistakes you won't notice because you haven't learned to yet. Everything is made up of simple shapes. In art class you learn to always sketch those shapes first, and then refine and add details. My art teacher made us do ten second figure drawings where we had to sketch out our model as completely and quickly as possible. This teaches you to be able to grasp the structure/defining form of your model without yet worrying over little things.
