Let me give you an obvious example.
These are two back-to-back IM streams one day apart. Top is sponsored Blue Archive stream, bottom is a variety stream.
The top stream has a user/viewer ratio of 0.38. The bottom stream, at its highest differential, has a user/viewer ratio of 0.95. The top stream was obviously, blatantly botted. The bottom was a normal stream where there were never more than 5% of users that weren't viewers. It's possible that certain streamers have users that are more likely to be logged out compared to others, but comparing users to viewers is a powerful tool to identify botted streams.
