This is one thing I find annoying about "anti windfags". They will vaguepost about how "Sega wants to make Sonic boring" or "Windnic is a horrible character".
Hey, those are okay opinions to have. I disagree, but nobody needs to like the things I like.
But they just won't specify what they think is interesting. They avoid mentioning what Sonic they actually want. Because if they admit "I want Sonally to be canon" or "I want the Sonic from the IDW comics" they will immediately get hit with the response "Oh, so you don't care about Sonic in the first place". To a lot of people in this fandom, getting outed as not playing the games is one of the most humiliating things that can happen. It invalidates everything else you have to say.
Additionally, they don't want to admit that they have conflated things from the comics as canon and only realized it during the argument.
Stuff like Sonic having a harem, insecurites, or quipping. Being insanely arrogant. They don't like the realization that they want character traits the games literally never had.
