It would've worked as a good comedy punchline if their arc was more lighthearted, but Zukyuun and Kiss were the culmination of both Purirun's and Meroron's sacrifices which they both shed tears for when committing to.
To brush that all under the rug with a "I dunno" is an insult even to the children's intelligence.
