Were I live, ya they've always been a thing, both parents were wildfire fighters, with my mom being one of the first women to do it, she's still kinda proud of that. They certainly have intensified over the past 15 or so years here, and in 2020 we had a fire outbreak that wiped a few towns off the map. (Picrel is what the sky looked like outside my house during what should have been a summer morning durring said outbreak.) Usually it starts up in earnest in August so we'll see what this summer brings.
