I've deleted my copy of Sakura Wars GB, so I'm making just one post so I can close this loop without dragging the thread off topic. I kind of miss the game, but it's shit.
The lack of romance or erotica is shocking. The lewdest thing that I found was the ability to peep in the showers, but you don't even get to see the side of a boob. As for the romance, I correctly predicted that you need to overly focus on a girl to achieve anything. However, I had underestimated the problem. I focused entirely on Sumire in my first run, but I ended the game without a single date. I BEAT A DATING SIM WITHOUT GOING ON ANY DATES. My second run, with Kanna, got her ending, but there is hardly a hint of romance. The plot of the series means that all of these girls belong to the series-wide protagonist. You are not playing as him. Every girl's final date ends in them picking him over you.
The game is generally quite unrewarding. For example, you don’t get anything special for maxing out any particular stat. I at least expected the corresponding girl to fawn over me. At best, all you get is some praise when your stats are getting high. A more specific example is that I lost many days to Sumire asking me to grow a plant and my only reward was a special attack that you can only use once in the entire game. This poor reward's relevance also goes unexplained. You just get shown the attack and told you might be able to use it one day, only to suddenly find it available in exactly one boss fight. Said fight isn't even your final battle, so I spent the final battle searching for it.
Lacking guidance is a theme in this game. Even the first battle doesn't give you a tutorial. To make matters worse, the translation added quality of life features that I can tell the game would be unbearable without. I was at least a third of the way through the game before I realised the basement existed, even though the transaction added extra features to make it more obvious.
