Been travelling alone for years working online my strategy is usually in this order
>go to coworking space, make small talk in the day then "hey lets get food/drinks later"
>find local expat group on FB and go to their events, basically can always find someone with good english
>use meetup, either the socialising or sport ones, some cities have things related to my work and can nerd out with some lads
pretty much works all the time and ez as fuck to find someone decent to hang out with even for an introverted autist like me
once you realise there's thousands of people in the same boat looking for randoms to have fun with just like you it's a lot easier
