To be fair, Coltrane just wasn't meant to have a character, he was just supposed to be a generic nice boy for Stacy, he's like Jeremy but with way less importance, development, and prominence
And like I said, if they ever wanted to do something with the character of "Stacy's boyfriend", I could see them just quietly getting rid of Coltrane in favor of a more interesting character like they did with pic related, I don't think anyone would riot over him and Stacy breaking up, like you said, no fans.
