I immediately recognized this as Houston, Austin, Waco, Dallas-Ft.Worth, and New Orleans from just the thumbnail. I'd rather be able to see the stars, galaxies, and heavenly wonders at night, but all we get is shitty city lights.
God doesn't prevent us from going into space. Humans do. Nobody's letting an astronaut farmer spend his own resources to take his chances with solar flares just to grow potatoes on Mars. We used to let explorers die by the thousands to find safe passage to new unchartered lands. But I guess you can't let the slaves run away from the planetation these days.
