Because companies nowadays don't hire peopple based on techinical skills, they hire based on social (soft) skills. That's why products are evolving so slowly and badly.

What I mean is, if you're very skilled and dedicated to studies but a bit socially awkward, you'll get surpassed by someone in a job inteview just because he/she was dressed better, smiled and maintened eye contact during the interview, even tho he/she got 10% of your skills.
